Oh, you are so tiny, Coco- smaller than all of my other pets I had to say good-bye to. Remember two weeks ago I was so proud because you weighed 3.8lbs? & then the Dr. thought it was water weight because last week you were only 3.4? It shouldn't happen like this- kittens are supposed to grow up big and strong...We loved each other from the moment we met, although you hated the carrier, preferring my shoulder to ride around on. & you had to sleep in your own room because you attacked my toes under the covers for the 1st 2 weeks- but you got over it quickly.
Even now, you are curled in my arms, small as you are, purring because you can feel my heart beating too. But I can hear it- the start of it breaking, because I know we have to go in the pet carrier one more time- and I will have to leave without you.
Of course, I will have a broken heart- but you will be strong and happy, and purring, and playing with your toys just this side of heaven- so I need to tell you who you will meet.
I would start at the beginning, but I would rather you look for Benny (Benjamin Franklin)- he's a black cat with sleepy Garfield eyes & true to his name, he is the family diplomat. Tell him I sent you with a song, and he will sing you his favorite, "Benny & the Jets". He will introduce you to the rest of the family-
Rico, the biggest Siamese ever (fed puppy chow early in his kittenhood and never got over it), who taught me how to walk; Ming-Toy, another Siamese who is probably nicer now that he can see in heaven; Goldie, my 1st dog, a golden retriever with a heart of gold and love of ice cream; Fluffernutter (Fluff), a flame-point himalayan more pretty than smart; Krook, a dark gray tiger cat who liked to hide things (has a bit of a crooked ear- don't look at it though- he just gets defensive), and of course, Flame, my second golden retriever. Flame got a bit confused when George was first introduced to the house- he was missing his mother, and Flame never had puppies, so...you get the picture. But she especially will look after you (she once hid a mouse under her paw from Benny & Krook)until we are reunited. Tell her George misses her still, his mother of the wrong species.
Little one, my pretty Coco the Kitten- I promise you will feel my love always; the impact you have had on my life is even greater due to the shortness of our time together.
