I got Bonkie about 9 years ago from a friend. It was an pure love and bond at first site. He was unlike any cat I had before. He gave kisses, showed belly and was totally devoted to me. He didn't care what I looked like, how much money I made. His love was unconditional. In November of 2005 I noticed Bonkie started getting thinner and spent most of his days sleeping and drinking water. I took him to the vet where he was disgnosed with chronic renal failure. I remember very well the sadness of that day. My husband and I cried, asking "why him"? Through out the next year and a half we gave Bonkie fluid treatments and put him on a special KD diet. During that time we would bring him every 6 months for a renal profile. During July of this year we started noticing his weight going down. We weighed him at 4.9 lbs. The veterinarian reccommended increasing the fluids to every other day. It was a losing battle. Yesterday August 24th We took him in to the office where we all agreed that it was time to let Bonkie go. My vet, the tech, my husband and me were totally hysterical and devistated. The pain and suffering was finally over. After his death we decided to go get him a crepe myrtle tree. He is buried in our back yard with the tree over him. So long, my faithful fellow. RIP Bonkie 4/29/98-8/24/07. You will be missed every day.
