One Year Today - Missing My Squishy Heiny, Tawny
by Barbara .........................................
Good-bye, My Squishy Heiny
Dedicated to my Devoted Cat, Tawny

You came into my life when I needed a friend
And that you remained until the very end
Kim picked you out at the SPCA
Your "tawny" color was beautiful everyone would say
In your youth you were spunky, a frenetic boy
And most everything you did brought me joy
There was banging against my bedroom door
Jumping up on the cabinets and so much more
Sometimes you acted more like a dog with airs
Stealing my food and growling at people coming up the stairs
Licking ice cream from fingers, petromalt and questioning meows
Were favorites of yours that you loved somehow
You stole my heart in such a short time
Little did I know everything would change on a dime
When dear little Hazel arrived on the scene
You used to attack her and seemed a bit mean
After a while you became good buddies
Sitting on the window perch side by side
She was slim and you were wide
Watching the birds and people pass by
Sometimes just gazing up at the sky
You never left my side when I was sick
And if you did, you always came back real quick
You loved your "dinners" and came when called
Your heiny became squishy in no time at all
You loved to watch the mixer and stood on the chair
For being a baker or comedian you had a certain flair
You added such pleasure and joy to my life
I wish you didn't have to endure such strife
I did everything I could to help you, my boy
Until your precious life you could no longer enjoy
One day I'll see you run to me across the Rainbow Bridge
We'll be together again and stand on the ridge
Thank you for the memories I'll have forever
My dear Squishy Heiny, Tawny, be at peace forever.

Your loving owner,
Barbara
