My friend Scooter
by Becca .........................................
My cat Scooter I had had since elementary school. He just showed up at the bus stop one day, and from then on was my cat. He was a bit wild at first, biting and scratching but with many years of kindness and love he became a cuddly kitty. Whenever I would pick him up he would wrap his paws around my neck.

A few years ago we thought we had lost him because a pack of dogs in our neighborhood killed a few cats, one looking almost identical to Scooter. But he showed up a few weeks later all beat up. I took him to the vet and got him all healed. And I was able to keep him for another 3 years.

This past year he started to get really thin. And was just the saddest thing ever. He wanted to sleep all the time, and never could remember if he had eaten. So he would just stand by his bowl and stare at it,even if he just ate. My family and I knew that his time on this earth was coming to an end, but we just didn't know when.

One morning my mom got up for work and let Scooter out like she always did. But this time he never came home that night. What is the hardest for me is that I never got to say goodbye to him. I never got to hug him one more time, and he died all alone. My 2 other kitties are super sad that their big brother isn't around anymore. Our dog still runs over to the door when we say Scooter's name like she is looking to see if he is waiting on the back porch.

I still miss Scooter everyday even though he has been gone since September. He was my pet for almost 15 years. I hope he is finally at peace now. I miss you Scooter Pie.
