Duke's father was a Schnauzer and his mother a poodle. So that made him a schnoodle. He was black and tan and so darn cute. He was only one to live out of 2 puppies. He was born in on June 24, 1991 in Clinton, La. We received him from my sister and her family. They had to move to an area that did not allow pets. They gave Duke's mother to a neighbor. Now Dukes dad already belonged to another neighbor. Duke was 4 months old when we adopted him and moved him to our home in Amite County, MS. He was a real mama's baby at first, but finally settled in. He loved to play with our lab named Christy. He was full of energy all the time. In 1992 we moved to Rankin County, MS. and took Duke and Christy with us. Christy passed away in 1997 Duke really missed her, but learned to get along without her. What a lively dog he was Even in his final year which was this year. He developed kidney problems in 2004 and we had that treated. Then in 2005 he had started having heart trouble. He had gotten to the point where he just laid around and did much of nothing. If we tried to walk him he would run out of breath fast. So our vet told us it was time to let him go. We thought on this for a week and finally decided that we did not want him to suffer, so we had him euthanized. This was the hardest thing my wife and I have ever faced. We had such joy with Duke for over 15 years. He loved staying in the house. He never cared much for outside. When he did he'd try to chase squirrels up trees. We will miss that dog. He was like a son to us. We burried him on the old home place in Amite County, MS. with other pets my father has had over the years. We ordered him a nice stone and will place it on October 14 and decorate his grave with beautiful white rocks. He was the BEST!
