Teddy Bear
by Briah Marenic.........................................
When i was just 1yr old my mom and dad thought it would be great to get another Rottweiler. We already had one but we wanted another one.The one we already had was named Bubba, but he passed away a little while after we got the new dog.We named this dog Bubba also.I loved that dog and he loved me.When we got him he was rescued from a colored person who had abused him and he couldn't open either of his eyes. The vet we take him too got his eyes open and his new life had began. He protected me through everything, played with me,and slept with me every night. Then, when I was 10 and so was he, he fell and tore a ligament in his knee.We took him to the vet and they gave us pills to help make him better. His leg started to get better and things returned to normal. Then, one day his leg was swelled up twice the normal size.We took him to the vet and they told us that he had cancer in his leg.Our options were:surgery, let it be,and putting him to sleep.Well,he was to old for surgery and we didn't want to put him to sleep so we just let it be.But every day after that he suffered terribly. He couldn't walk and we had to have a bunch of people come over to help us get him outside to relieve himself. We knew it was time to end his misery. We hoped he owuld go peacefully in his sleep but he didn't because he was strong and held on.So on October 6,2005 we took my big teddy bear to be put to sleep. The vet came out and took the needle in his hand. When he first went to stick it in, Bubba puled away. Then he got it in.I watched in total sorrow as my Bubba closed his eyes and laid down for the last time. Then I cried.I know he went to a better place but I can never forget my teddy bear.We had gotten a new dog before he had passed on and they loved each other. The new dog still wanders around his garve somtimes, crying and laying down next to it.If wishes can come true i wish that I can see my teddy bear again someday.
