We enjoyed his company
He enjoyed ours too
He was just so boisterous
We hadn't got a clue
That he would eat our kitchen
And everything in sight
And, just like a baby
He needed comforting at night
As he grew in years
He would understand
To do the tasks we asked of him
And always be at hand
He has shared our joy
And our sadness too
His eyes always told us
He knew what we were going through
Old age is now upon him
And we have to let him go
But we hold him close within our hearts
And we're sure that he will know
That he was a truly lovely pet
And our greatest friend
Although we're sad that he has gone
We will love him until our end
When we will be back together
And never more to part
We have reserved a place for him forever
In our heart
