In the Dew of the Morn
by Carole .........................................
I heard your howling voice

In the wee hours morn

Across the meadows green

Running rabbits through the thorns

Although I cannot see you

In your bed you loved so dear

I know you are around me

To calm my aching tears

Your nose and paw marks remain

Upon the kitchen door

Forever the scratching slienced

For me to hear no more

I'll miss you waiting on me

When home I come to rest

Racing down the driveway

To show me you're the best

I watched your face age

Over the last few years

And watched the silvery grey

Shine upon your ears

And though I knew this time

Was drawing oh so near

I cannot fight back

The bucket of my tears

So to say good bye my friend

Is the hardest thing to do

I will keep you in my heart

And somehow make it through

Unitl on heavens gates

I shall look one day

I know you will be waiting

On the bridge across the way

So Bitsy rest your weary head

And body oh so worn

Someday I will see you

In the dew of the morn.
