MY DOG, MY DOG, MY LIFE
by Charles Scott.........................................
Goodbye my little friend
Many years you have been my friend
You were just a pup then; just weaned from your mother's love
The runt of the litter we picked you
Together we grew, you, and I and two children that loved you too
When life changed, you loved the new one too
With all your heart you gave and gave your love to her too
You are one that made my past; even though someone else rejected your love
I made a vow that I would see you thru until the end of you or me
Many times I wondered if this day would come and what it would be like
I often wondered if I would cry
But now I know; the end is near
Tears gush forth, my heart is broke: but, I know you must go
We don't want you to suffer
You will always hold a special place in our heart
The love you gave was undefiled and true
A true companion; that was you
That wagging tail that graced the air when we arrived home
The bark and whine upon our entrance
Shows true love that is unknown to some
But, your love will endure in our hearts
You taught us from the very start
A true defender; that was you
And in your final hour; there we will be to see you thru. A true friend, that was you
