Growing Up Together
by Christine Van Buren.........................................
When I was seven years old I got a dog named ginger. She is a Sheltie. When I took her home all I wanted to do Is be with Ginger. My mother and Father said you can be with her all the time and I was like why not. I used to try and talk my parents into letting me sleep in the kitchen with Ginger in my sleeping bag ,But they said no. In the morning I'd always wake up and run into the kitchen to see if ginger was still there. I'd take her for a walk when I got home from school. Then we got a pool and I tryed taking the dog with me swimming and she didnt care for it so I put her on a floatie. When she got a little bit older we took her to the dog park. She alaways went to the same spot at the dog park under the tree in the shade. She loved being and playing with other dog's. Then I got her a friend about a year ago and his name is Duke and he is a Basset Hound. He always loved being near his Girl. They did alot of things together. Then in March 29th 2006 we had to put Ginger to sleep. The doctor said her kidnees were going. Im only 19 years old and I feel like I lost my best Friend in the World.I got Ginger cremated on April 1st of 2006. It was a very heart breaking day to see my beloved friend Ginger go. And to this day I still go to the dog park With my other dog Duke and we sit under that tree and think of Ginger and the greatest times we have ever had with her.
