Once Upon A Love

Once Upon A Love

I remember just as it as if it was yesterday when I happened upon you lying there;
You were so very tiny, so utterly alone, left by God to fill that awful pain in my heart.
That is when I was able to fill the emptiness in my heart with pure unconditional love.

There you were: just a tiny, newborn white kitten, barely even hours old; trusted to me,
By our Heavenly Father who now cares for you and has healed your body as only He can.
Even though I know where you are and that you are made whole once again, I miss you.

We shared together over twelve years of unconditional love, mischief and playfulness.
Your sweet nature: it melted even the hardest heart, even my angry and bitter one.
Your short little white legs, beautiful yellow, golden eyes and loud purr were my lullaby.

So though I rejoice that you await, healed and whole and new, at The Rainbow Bridge,
The anguish envelopes me as I weep in raw sorrow that Father took you home so soon.
I am so lost without you, Sister (Spot) is too; Dr. Claire gave us Abby, white like you.

You and Spot were my anchor during those many awful, out of control years; my babies.
When you both were stolen from me, it broken my heart and crushed my soul;
But Our Father is a loving God, He restored our little family, made once again whole.

I do not mean to question His Will; a sacrifice was prophesied, I never dreamed at all
That the sacrifice would be losing you from my life so very soon and so very sudden.
You are whole again and home in Heaven, and for that I give my gratitude and praise.

I just miss you so much, is all, and I forever and ever will; you were my gold-eyed baby;
My sweet furry angel child, keeping me close with your fur and your purrs and mischief.
Once upon a Love; Spike, you were Heaven's Treasure, so it is fitting that you are home.
