Skipper
by Darlene LaRoche.........................................
May 10,1991-Dec.10,2008 17 years and 7 months together, what a great time we had. We brought you home June 1991 at 6 weeks old, you were such a bundle of energy. You always enjoyed going for a ride in the car, chasing anything that moved, and just enjoying life. We took you with us most everywhere we went, you were the child we never had, though to us you were our "baby". At the time you came into our family, we had a pontoon boat, and I called Daddy "Gilligan" , so when you came , I decided you would be Skipper. The name fit you to a tee, the way you skipped around when you were running, and jumping up and down to get a treat. Time went by so fast, you began to slow down, losing your eyesight in one eye, your hearing started to fade, and you would spend most of the day sleeping on the couch. One day your good eye started to seep, took you to the vet, and they said you had an infection, and that your eye itself was very fagile, the vet said they could take your eye out,but to stop and think , would it improve the quality of your life, at 17 yrs and 7 months old, the rational answer was "no", it was the hardest decision we had to make, we knew that it was your time, but one is never really ready when the time comes. We were just glad we were able to be ther with you when you passed to the Rainbow Bridge. It has taken time, but I can now think of you with smile, though, the tears do come at times. I have photos of you in every room of the house,I like to be able to see you. Shortly after you passed, you came to me in a dream, it was so real, you jumped up on the bed, and into my arms and licked my face, that let me know that you are happy and healthy at the Rainbow Bridge. I know that you would want me to be happy, so I carry on, until it is my time to meet you once more at the Rainbow Bridge, never to be apart again. I love you with all my heart, and in my heart forever will you stay. XOXOXO Love, Mom
