Bubba
by Debbie M..........................................
I found him underneath my car
Using a pavement as a bed
I thought someone owned you
As I made sure that you were fed

Days went by and there you were
Nobody claimed you to own
So I took you inside to meet
the others and give you a home

You slipped out the door
giving up comforts of inside
You liked your freedom
If that is what I could provide

Your friends were all feral
You seemed to fit right in
You got in a few fights
But you always had to win

In all kinds of weather
You ejoyed your life outside
Until one day I found you
In the tall grass you cried

I called out your name
but your back legs were stuck
I thought that maybe
You were hit by a car or truck

Took you to the vet
They did a lot of tests
Told me you had a blood clot
You'd have to be put to rest

I could not believe
That your life was about to end
The pain for both of us
Was one they could not mend

Your friends outside miss you
They don't know where you are
So I point to the sky
And show them the brightest star

We will meet again
When I cross over too
Until then I will miss
Everything about you
