Ode to Kiki
by Debbie Plant.........................................
He came to us so long ago
That puff of orange and white
Bright eyes that shone an ocean blue --
A tiger full of might

We fell in love that very first day
Cared for him in every way
He was our little baby boy
A bundle of love he wasn't coy

He showered us with love
He licked he nursed
Inside Tom's bathrobe as if rehearsed
With every day we loved him more
As he slid across our hard wood floors

He was a lover that's for sure
His knead and purr was his allure
And when some challenges came his way
We took him for help with no delay

The doctors tried to make him whole
Around the clock to save his soul
His weakened body couldn't fight
Just go to sleep Kiki -- that's your right

Our hearts are broken -- swollen eyes are red
It's Kiki in the morning time in our bed
We'll never forget you, Kikeroo
We'll always have our love for you

Thank you for the joy you brought
Thank you for the fights you fought
I see your body open wide
Saying "Poppy pet me on my side"

We love you. We love you.
We always will
Our little Kiki was life's greatest thrill
You rest now and know we'll make it through
After all, we're the lucky ones
We had you
