Our Baby Girl
by Debbie Domalik.........................................
Almost tweleve years have past since we went to our local shelter to get a furry baby, my husband really wanted a sporting dog that he could take out in the fields. At the shelter there were so many pups and dogs of all sizes and shapes. My husband kept looking, he really wanted a girl, but did not see one that he could connect with and as we were about to leave the lady behind the counter asked us to wait as she had a puppy in the back and maybe just maybe we would like her?
Well...that little pup had us from the moment my husband held her and looked into her tiny little face. He said this is the one for me. The pup was the runt of the litter and the only female. Our new baby girl was named Sindee and she was the sweetest lab/mix pup ever. There was the normal puppy stag of getting into stuff, but it wasn't long and she was a well behaved furry member of the family. Sindee loved everybody, humane or animal. Sindee took care of the cats, whenever one of the cats wanted a good ear washing, Sindee did the job and did it well, judging by the repeat business she had. Sindee loved our other dogs and shadowed my dog Charly from the moment she came into her new home. As for her fielding abilities,(the reason my husband wanted a sporting dog) well...she pointed out a baby snake, no bigger than a pencil and let's just say that butterflies were more her speed than birds of fowl. We shared almost twelve wonderful years with her until the cancer came and took her from us. We will always miss her and my heart can't wait until we meet again over the rainbow bridge.
