Taj Madawg Johnson -- 12/18/2011

I made you a promise

From the moment I first held you

To be there for you

And love you til the end

Last night I fulfilled that promise

Today I stare at your empty bed

Your bowl

The space on my bed

I count up to five

Where is six?

Sadness washes through me

When calling the others

Your name automatically comes out

Another wave hits me

Treat time

It's your turn and I stop

And the tide comes in again

Routine is broken, everything seems off

Unbalanced, tilted, and askew

I lean into the wave
