My Little Shadow
by Dee Dee Fahey.........................................
On February 13, 2007, My little shadow and beloved cat, Roxy, passed away after 18 years. I want Roxy to know that he gave us 18 wonderful years of joy and happiness. I miss him so much, but know he is not in pain and is at peace. I hope has found his brother, Ratt, and his buddies, Jack and Darby to play with until we can all be together again someday.
Roxy was my shadow and miracle baby. Over 2 years ago, he had cancer in the gum/jaw area. The vet didn't have much hope that Roxy would survive. We treated Roxy, and with a lot of love and holistic remedies I had found on the internet, the cancer Roxy had went into remission. My vet called and told me that Roxy was nothing less than a MIRACLE. God gave me 2 more years with my baby, but, a recent infection Roxy had gotten was too much for his little body to take and he passed away. When he first got sick, he was still his happy, purring, cuddley self- until the final days. Me and his friend Jack (age 6) who loved Roxy so much and Roxy loved back, smothered him with all the love and care we could possibly give. I know that Roxy had some comfort know we were there with him until he passed that morning. We took Roxy to my godparents house where we buried him next to his brother, Ratt. I was very sad, but was glad he wasn't in pain any more. That afternoon, as I grieved, I looked out the window and noticed it was raining - although the sun was out! We ran outside and there it was, ROXY'S RAINBOW! I hadn't seen a rainbow in atleast, 2-3 years. I knew that it was a sign that Roxy was in a better place and he was letting me know he was okay. Rainbows in Los Angeles are a rare sight and this was no coincidence.
My apartment was so lonely with Roxy. So quiet and sad. I miss him terribly and always will. I love you Roxy. Last weekend, Jack (age 6) and I went to local animal shelter, where we decided to get another cat for me. I found an adorable black and white fat adult cat to take home. Coincidentally, the cat's name was "Shadow". I want Roxy to know that Shadow will never replace him or his brother, as they will ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART. We also got a kitten named Sally for Jack (age 6). We love them all! Roxy was my special baby and will always be. I love my new fur baby, and hope Roxy understands that we saved 2 fur babies in his honor.
I love and will always miss you, ROXY!
Love, Kisses and never-ending happiness.
Mommy and Jack.
