I remember the day Daddy brought you home in the blue and white van
You rode in the passenger seat just like a big funny man
You jumped out and bounded for the door.
You found your forever home and couldn't ask for more.
You were wild and crazy in the first few days
Our trainer Vince got you to mend your ways.
We always knew when you stole something you shouldn't
Your tail gave you away and we laughed until we couldn't
Your Golden Retriever Smile was the best in show
How it warmed our hearts, you will never know
Your bark was loud and woke us from sleep
Then you'd plop by our bed and land in a big heap
You loved to be loved, and we gave it all to you
You were the best dog ever and that we all knew
Your brother Charlie was an annoying little guy
When he came home that day, you were wondering why
But then you became friends and shared your toys
But sometimes you fought and behaved like bad little boys
Then one day you couldn't get up to go out
We were so confused and didn't know what it was about
Then it was hard for you to breathe and it was so sad to see
We had to let you go, and that was how it had to be
It broke our hearts, we loved you so much
So we kissed you good-bye and gave you one last touch
Rest in peace my beautiful Golden Boy, We will forever miss you
You gave us all of your love and I know you will miss us too.
With all of our love,
Your family
