10 things I know about Jiggs

Ten things I know about Jiggs
1. Eleven years ago while going through a tough time I prayed, "lord I put this in your hands, you need to show me the way through it". The next morning while watching a friend's son, who has downs syndrome, I asked what he wanted to do & he said, "we have to go look at puppies today". Jiggs was the first puppy we saw that day & each time I tried to leave Michael said, "no, that's your puppy, he has to go with you". I didn't see how I could take care of a pet at that time in my life but he turned out to be the answer to my prayer.

2. He has the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen! They were the first thing I noticed about him, I named him Jiggs for Gigolo because with those eyes he seduced me into taking him home with me.

3. He is fiercely loyal to me! I think he believes I'm his herd of sheep, so he feels I'm his responsibility. He has made keeping an eye on me his full time job, and he's done that job very well.

4. He loves bread! He will spend hours trying to get to a loaf of bread he can't reach. And when it comes to bagels, FAHGEDDuhboudit! You could lock them in a safe & he'd still get to them.

5. He has an incredible memory! I once saw him dig up a stick he'd buried on our patio 2 years before & bring it to the person who had first thrown it for him. He hadn't seen that person in the years in between and our home is 60 miles from where he had originally thrown the stick for jiggs.

6. He loves road trips, we've driven well over 200,000 miles together. and although he's normally so sweet I trust letting babies crawl on him, on road trips he becomes as tough as any guard dog.

7. He knows over 100 words & phrases! He never likes me out of his sight. I can't even pee without him lying across my feet. it didn't bother me until the day he scratched a hole in the bathroom door while I took a shower. That day I taught him, "I'll be right back". He just kept learning.

8. He loves going for walks & gets so excited he jumps straight up in the air. I often have to sit down & wait 5 minutes for him to calm down enough to get a leash on him.

9. He loves the beach and will walk there for hours. He also loves to swim but is so bad at it he starts out almost vertical, slapping the water & floundering until I think he'll drown before he levels out & remembers how it's done.

10. He's been my faithful friend for 11 years & I love him dearly.
