Comeback Kitty: the Story of Ginger
by Drue Quackhurl.........................................
Janet had always wanted a kitten. When she was in her last year of college, she finally got one. She named him, Ginger.
Janet and Ginger got along well. Ginger was always very cheerful and happy.
On graduation week, her mom called her and said, "Janet, I'm afraid we can't keep Ginger. I'm allergic, and we don't have enough money to feed and take care of him."
Janet was shattered. She looked at Ginger and said, "I'll have to sell you."
Janet did sell Ginger, and wasn't happy about it.
************
Janet soon grew up, got married to a man named Mark. She had two children, both girls. She got another cat, and named him Jasper, though Ginger always lived in her heart.
Now, this is not where our story ends, read on.
Soon, Jasper passed away. Janet wasn't happy, but relieved. Jasper was quite mean.
The next Christmas, the older child wanted another cat. One of Janet's workers came in as one of Santa's Elf's. She said, "Surprise!" and showed cat food.
The oldest said, "Oh, we don't have a cat anymore."
"Oh, really? Check the garage."
They did go out, and there was a cat!
Everyone was very happy. They all went to pet it, and Janet asked, "Whats his name?"
"Ginger," said the worker.
Janet stared long and hard, and then gave him a big hug. It was her old Ginger!
**********
Ginger was with them for many years. He had his 13th birthday in August.
He got very old and sick, and took lots of trips to the vets.
One day the vet said, "We'll have to put him to sleep."
They did, and cried lots.
He really was a great cat.
****************
I am the oldest daughter of Janet, writing this story at 10 years old. I am still grieving over our loss, but know that he is now in a better place.
This is dedicated to Ginger, and is all very true. My mom will tell me the story over and over.
I just want to say that now we know that at least Ginger is living a better life, with the company of the many animals in heaven. We all love you so much, "Fat Cat"(His nickname).
