Beth
by Edward & Lucille Walker.........................................

Beth

A scrawny frame, a matted coat
but eyes that pleaded please,
take me home and help me
be the friend that I can be.

we scooped our new friend up
and began a journey full of love.
of days, weeks, months and years
of pleasures too many to tell.

She filled our life with joy and fun
and drove loneliness away
she asked for nothing but food and drink
and gave her whole heart for pay

A little thing five pounds and change
yet a giant in love and trust
there was nothing she would not do
to stay close to us

At four o-clock one sunday morn
we awoke not knowing why
Beth was breathing hard
so to the veterinarian we did fly

the trip we took, at journeys end
was the end of our little dog Beth.
she had given so much of her heart,
that for her there was nothing left.
