Remembering my"Pinyong"
by Faith Ramos.........................................
8 years ago,Dinggay my youngest daughter, found an abandoned kitten....She took care of it, fed it thru a medicine dropper. We named her Minggay..Very sweet cat.Minggay got pregnant.Had 3 kittens, one died on birth. After a week she gave birth, Minggay went missing. Around 3rd day she was gone, I found her dead body in state of decomposition in a grassy area leaving behind 2 kittens. History repeated and Minggay orphaned 2 kittens we fed thru medicine dropper too. Blanket cannot even keep them warm especially at night. Exposing the 2 kittens to our male dog Pinyong, as if he got the message that those 2 young ones needed love and warmth,-- from then on, Pinyong gave warmth to 2 orphaned kittens I named Badadat and Batit... In my old diary, two years ago on this same day December 7, Pinyong went missing. Never came home, never came back, never showed up. I was hurt. In a neighborhood of dog-meat-eaters,(here in the Philippines, there are still tribes/people who consider dog-meat a delicacy), I was so sure what cruelty Pinyong had gone thru with those people.
After Pinyong, we lost 3 more dogs, in 3 different occasions-- beautiful Bambi, Macho Badodot, Batotoy,& Butoy...3 of the 4 dogs were accidentally released from the chains and left the house, never came back. The unknown culprit even hung Badodot's skull in a post near our fence. It could be heartbreaking when you know each of your 7 dogs and 5 cats by their names and characteristics, and you know what they went through, in the hands of ruthless people feeding their stomachs with stolen pets of other people...disgusting people !
