Letter for Sadie

Sadie, My Sweet Angel,

I will always miss you.

You have brought us nothing but pleasure. You will always be in our hearts; I write for myself, Richard, Doug and Greg. You have been the greatest companion (I can't even call you a dog) any family ever had.

You were beautiful, smart and loving -- and we loved you more than I can ever say. I only hope you knew that.

You never did anything wrong. All you wanted was to play Frisbee when you were young and to try to play when you were older -- You loved cuddling on our bed and most of all, your basket. Your favorite spot on our bed was on Dad's pillow.

You had a special smell on your fur. I smell it even now.

You used to come to the office with me and were so protective of the "girls". We took you everywhere with us because we loved you so much.

I don't think you were too happy when Max arrived, but you learned to tolerate him. He loved you.

Your death came so quickly -- I am relieved you didn't suffer -- at least I hope you didn't. I think you were sick for about 10 days; not eating much and I didn't understand it. Maybe we should have taken you to the vet immediately but we thought it was just a reaction to the vitamin pill from Dr. Ariel.
Please forgive me if that wasn't the case. I couldn't know.

You went on your terms, like the lady you always were. You made sure I did not have to end you're your life. I love you for that but I am so sorry I wasn't with you. I wanted always to hold you in your final moments so you would know how much you were loved and how much I (and all of us) will miss you.

You will be in my heart forever.

Love always,

The "mom" who raised you -
