Blue Dog!
by Gwen Brown.........................................
I love dogs, most-times more than people. My husband and I already had 'Pound Pup'Brandy - Border-collie X/Kelpie about nine years old. My daughter wanted one of her own - so through a work friend - Cookie, Blue Smithfield X with a tail, took our hearts! DID SHE EVER!
What a dog with soooo much character...At the beach - Crab digger, bird chaser, you name it, liver of life was the Cookstar. Jumper of high sand cliffs, bounding antelope after birds! She made me laugh, she showed me life! At home - Commondo dog under the bed when allowed inside for a 'visit, collector of insects, shells - maybe klepto is more appropriate.
Her one fault was rushing up to others 'human/dog' greeting them.
Maybe this was her ... We don't know how it happened - A letter-box dropper doing the rounds of the neighbourhood called, somehow Cookie got out of our secure yard, we weren't there at the time, the lady had a child in a stroller - Cookie rushed down'her'territory... Lady yelled at her 'of course'. I would of too. Unfortunately she nipped the lady, and fortunately it was just a nip! But...in the eyes of the powers that be she would of been marked thereon a dangerous dog, never to have the freedom of offleash beach, her one love. Although Cookie was my daughters' dog , I had her so often. She stole my heart! To euthanize her broke it as well! I have a grand-daughter, so you do what it right! When I meet her again at the Rainbow Bridge will she meet me and trust me?
