Rascal
by Jackie Murphy.........................................
Rascal, you were one feisty young lady. I certainly named your right! You were the best pet and I'm glad I rescued you, your brother Punkin (who is now with you at Rainbow Bridge), and your sisters Tidbit, and Pudgee. In August of 2012, you had your left front leg removed because of cancer. The way you got around was amazing - from running up and down the steps to jumping on and off the bed and in and out of the bathtub - will never cease to amaze me. This morning (5/18/13) I noticed the open wound and my mind flashed back to last August when the cancer was diagnoses. You were a trooper through the surgery, but this time, nothing could be done. The vet felt the cancer would return and sooner this time. I couldn't bear to have you suffer anymore. While you were waiting for Dr. W to see you, you looked at me differently, and softly meowed, like telling me that it was ok. It hurt like hell to let you go, but I couldn't bear to have suffer and you were beginning to be reclusive and when I noticed the other cast hovering around you.. it made me realize something was very wrong and it was. I know you pretty well. I'll never forget you and our snuggling on the couch, bed, and floor. You are now at Rainbow Bridge with Tiger, Tab, Tuffi, and your brother Punkin. I'll get your ashes back too in a few days and will put them with the others. Ras, daddy and I will NEVER forget you! You were so very special to us and we loved how you greeted us when we came home, sitting up on your hind legs for us to pet your head. You are now pain free, but I'm in pain with losing you. I did the unselfish thing and I know you're not mad at me. We'll always love you and remember you, our Precious Rascal. Play nice! We'll meet again, I know.
