Libby..
by Jasmine Penney.........................................
My dog, Libby, was one of the best dogs on the face of this planet. She was 10 years old and was pretty close to completely healthy. but on the tragic day of Monday, September 19th 2005, she was hit by a school bus. My sister and I got home from school that afternoon and we let the dogs out on their leashes. About half and hour later, they were barking so my sister asked me to let them in. I went downstairs to bring them in when a lady and her dog were at the back door. The lady was upset and said "Oh my God, your dog got hit!" I looked over at the road and there was Libby on the road... I went upstairs as fast as I could and called for my sister. When I told her she screamed and that's when my dad came in. I quickly told my Dad that she got hit and he hurried as fast as he could downstairs. He ran outside to see what actually happened to poor Libby. What happened was Libby had seen a dog walking with it's owner by our backyard and wanted to run and see it. She broke off of her leash and ran to the dog where she went on the road and got hit. The bus hit her and then ran over the bottom half of her, killing her in an instant. She was lucky that it had killed her instantly because then she wouldn't of had to put up with operations and/or suffering. The bus driver, my dad and other people were around Lib seeing if she was really dead. When they agreed that she was indeed dead, my dad picked her up off of the road. My dad owed it to Libby because she was his companion and she was there for dad. So the best thing to do was be the hero and take her to the SPCA. I think who is effected by it the most is my littlest dog, Defer. Defer was like her best friend and now that she is gone, he has no one to play with..... I really miss Libby and I will always love her because she was one of the best dogs in the universe. She will be in my heart and I know that all dogs go to heaven. God will take care of her until I go to heaven and then we will be reunited. Love you, Libby.
