Samson's story
by JoAnn Wilson.........................................
Samson was our german shepherd. He was abandoned at a very young age of 12 weeks old. His previous owners left him in the yard with a pot of food and water and left him to go on vacation. He was picked up by the pound. He was very aggressive when they found him. We had just lost Kodi and Jetta about 3 months before. When my 1 year old and I saw him we knew that he had to be a part of our family, but the previous owner said they still wanted him and would pick him up. As the day past the owners never came. So he became a part of our family. Even though he was very young he protected us right away. After a week with us he knew that we would love him and he was no longer aggressive anymore. The six years that we had with Samson were wonderful. He cared for my son and the new malamute puppy that we had. He was so gentle and loving. Others were terrified of him. He was huge 125 pounds worth. Then the day came at two years of age that we were told that Sam had hip dysplesia. I was horrified. My ex-husband and I took turns sleeping on the couch downstairs so Sam wouldn't be alone. On June 25, 2004 we had to say good-bye to him. He wasn't able to get up one step, he would fall. I was there to hold him and to say good-bye. Most of all to say thank you for taking care of us and loving us the way he did. He will always be remembered. Still to this very day I miss and think of him. You see he is on my mantle at home with Kodi and Jetta. I know someday I will see him again, but till then I know he can see us through the holes in floor of heaven.
