Kevin
by Joanne .........................................
I won't ever forget Kevin, the most beautiful bird in the world, which I think. He was pretty yet small, with dark brown feathers, a white breast with tiny feathers edged in black, his beak was small and his eyes black as night when no stars shine. But his voice-ah!-simply beautiful, so beautiful you would want to hear it forever. He sang songs we know nothing of but they were sweetly beautiful.
But Kevin-he had to die. He was the gift my aunt gave me, and she suggested I name him Jay, since my name began with a J, but no. I named him Kevin, it fit him perfectly.
I have no photo of Kevin, but he remains forever in my soul. When we found him, dead, lying on the bottom of his cage, my heart was shattered. He was gone forever to Rainbow Bridge. But then, on Kevin's first anniversary of the day he died, a rainbow appeared in the sky. A beautiful one, and I felt good, that he was safe with God. He sent this so we could know he was safe.
I love you Kevin. You were not worthless. And sometimes, I think I hear your voice, singing in the heavens.
