Ode to Barney
by John Wilson.........................................
The blackened clouds, they still appear,
As on a summer day, storms drawing near.
The pain pours down, I am soaked in tears,
I try to remember, all the wonderful years.

I found you in a cage; abandoned, lost,
And that paw through the bars pleading, "I've been tossed!"
That day I made my most cherished decision,
With what I admit, was more emotion than precision.

My Barney, my Bumpy-Lump, my Boy, my Face,
Every single day since, through God's divine grace,
You brought me purpose and joy and countless smiles,
Those ears in the wind, I'm sure seen for miles.

But not only with me, did you share these feats,
You charmed family and friends, even those on the streets.
I miss you so much, no less so of late,
But what keeps me going, is God's choice of our fate.

A dozen years of our lives,
Together.
