Raven Got Her Wings Today

Raven Got Her Wings Today

The day has come - our girl is gone
She's left our place behind
To go to find her Blackjack
And the dogs of every kind

Who lived their lives in loving homes
And played beneath the trees,
Until they left for God's green fields
Where all dogs run fast and free

No longer will we see her face
Or feel her warming breath
No longer hear her warning bark
Now she's gone to join the rest

Of those who lived their loyal lives
Wanting little but our touch
And a little food and water
That's not asking very much

And in return she gave to us
Her heart and soul and love
The kind that's unconditional
Like that given from above

She plays beneath God's outstretched arms
He protects her from all pain
And lets her be young and strong
So she can jump and play again

And every time we think of her,
Our hearts will start to sing
As we cherish all she gave to us
'til she donned her angel wings
