A good friend passed away early this morning
of the furry, four-legged variety
very quick, very ill with no warning
leaving broken hearts to grieve quietly
fiercely loyal, devoted and smart
qualities only outdone by his huge heart
the void enormous, impossible to fill
such a presence ,so strong-willed
if he loved you, you knew it, no mistaking
gentle and sweet
