A Collie & a cat !
by Judy & Family .........................................
About 18 years ago we adopted a Collie puppy while we were living in Texas. We named him " Joe ". He was the best family dog, as well as the best watch dog, that anyone can imagine. He looked a lot like Lassie, too. By the time Joe was 5 years old, my youngest son brought a little orange colored Kitty home from the flea market. We named her
" Squeeky " because for some unkown reason she could not meow like cats do. The Vet told us that Squeeky was about 6 weeks old. From day one, Joe & Squeeky got along and it didn' t take no time at all before they became best friends. They slept side by side, they had their food bowls side by side, and shared the same bowl of water. Squeeky would follow Joe around, or vice wersa. Two best friends indeed !!!!! Then when Joe was 13 yrs. old he had a stroke right before Christmas. With the help of steroids Joe could celebrate one more Christmas with us before we finally had to let him go. It was heartbreaking for all of us. Squeeky was also lost without her best friend. We gave her Joe' s color to lay next to for comfort and she' d lick it and lick it, or she' d hold it with her front paws, looking at us and wondering what' s going on. She mourned for quite a while. Now 8 years have gone by since. About a month ago Squeeky became ill, she would stop eating, hardly would drink any water, and she' d hide in all sorts of places. We often had a hard time finding her. The Vet gave us the bad news that she had cancerous tumors on her stomach.
Even thou we did not want to let her go, it was the best decision
under the circumstances. We took her to the Vet, on the way there she started to get aggitated. Between all the tears we told her that she is gonna see her friend Joe again and that she will be happy with him once more, at a place called the Rainbow Bridge. It was like she completely understood every word we said because she instantly calmed down. My granddaughter and I held her while she peacefully slipped away at the Vet's office. We know, that her best friend Joe was there waiting for her on the other side, and that both are happy together again. The Rainbow Bridge is a wonderful place for our beloved pets, a place where there is joy & peace, and there we' ll meet our furry friends again once more. So until we' ll see you again dear Joe and dear Squeeky, we' re here on earth missing you & loving you so very, very, much !!!!! We' re thinking of you every day, and we are so grateful to GOD that he has blessed us with such a wonderful dog and such a wonderful cat !!!!!
