Once I said hello
To a little fur ball.
Even then I knew
That this gift so small
Would take over my heart,
Become a part of me,
Sharing days and years,
And best friends come to be.
As the days passed to years
And the older we both got,
We played less, slept more,
But still had time to love a lot.
Yesterday hello became goodbye.
Little fur-ball went to sleep
And I miss my friend so much,
For I have but memories to keep.
