Sweet Sadie Lady
by KAREN POWELL.........................................
I remember first seeing Sadie when she was 10 weeks old.We were going to rescue her and her sister in Tennessee where we lived. When i first saw her she was running between some used closed hanging up...(it was a thrift shop)both her sister and her were lively and just precious.I fell in love with both of them although we had just come for one.We called them Sadie and Sierra.. they looked like they were wear john boy(from the Waltons) eye glasses or granny glasses.they were all white with big brown perfectly round blotches on them both.Sadie looked like the Dalmation and Sierra looks like the St Bernard. From the time they reached "their home" they fit rigth in with all of our other babies..(2 rottweilers(Shiloah (1 yr old)and Siam(2 months))Marco(1 yr old) who was half Irish setter and Golden retriever. They played and grew to bond and adore each other.. they were inseparable..but Sadie and Sierra true sisters..stuck very close together..where one was you would see the other right beside them or tagging behind.. on the deck of our log home in TN they would love to lay together and sun their selves.. they were my lil sun goddesses..if it was 95 outside you would still see them laying out in that sunshine..We moved here to MN (HUGE MISTAKE) and they and all the others adapted very well...(shiloah was gone now (she is here on rainbow bridge) she had a mass at the site of a vaccination and it was bone cancer at age five we had to let her go.. Sadie was best friends with her and hurt her fro a long time along with the others missing Shiloah)And then my other Rottie Siam died of a heart attack on his birthday July 31st right in front of me(Siam was also a rescue,he came out of a very abusive home).. i thought my days were over when that happened but i had to raise the other babies.Sadie was 10 an developed a knot under her arm .. vet said nothing to worry about..within a week it had grown to the size of a softball ..we took her to another vet.. he drained 3 tubes of fluid out.. as always she was a very good girl..not a whimper came out of her .....EVER>>>>>the next week her lil leg swelled up twice the size of her other leg.. she was given prednizone.. makes her thirsty and go to the bathroom alot...ALOT.. never once did she go in the house and the vet warned me she would...NO>>>not my SADIE..AND SHE DID'NT..she had 3 stairs to go up and down each time she went out ot he dog yard i know it hurt her terrible but never did she cry or complain or whimper... (i have chronic lyme disease and i cry everytime i have to climb those stairs)she could barely use that leg.. nothin could be done for her..vet said it was inoperable because the place under the arm it was..i was devastated.. my sweet sadie had a great appetite and was alert and gave me kisses.. everywhere i was in the house there she was.. at the dinner table beside me on the floor..beside me at my computer.. beside my bed on her cushey bed..beside the couch where i layed.. in the hall waiting for me in the bathroom... just her leg?? she is ok otherwise? This killed me..i was not ready to let her go.. but it was getting bigger and sadie wasn't the kind to tell oyu something hurt.. but i KNEW better.. i could NEVER let her suffer.. she had been and still was, so faithful.. near to the very end...her very end..it was time...it was a cold blustery gloomy Thursday (2 days ago)the worst of of a day you can imagine...we put her leash on she was excited she was going for a ride.. just a short one.. the vet is rigth around the corner..My Husband put her head on his lap.. i had her favorite noahs arc blanket on her so she would not get cold..first the shot that makes them rest... such a good girl..always was .. then the final one that would make Sadie never be on this Earth again..still a good girl..always faithful sweet and good til the end.. it's not goodbye my sweet girl.. i will see you in Heaven.. you are up there running and playing with Shilaoh and Siam.. i will see you then.. until then,my sweet Sadie Lady..i love you beyond words can express and miss you terribly.. so does everyone else including your sister Sierra...she lays alone in the bed looking on your side where you are...xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
