NINE SUMMERS

NINE SUMMERS

You were not my first love
Nor will you be my last
But, my very core tells me that you were and always will be the best
Nine summers spent with you
Is more love than I could ever have hoped to know
Nine summers of you
Is the most precious gift I have ever been given
But there are only ever so many summers
And, I know that this summer will be our last
Sadness immerses me as I look at you
Because I can feel the fading
And, I know that, this summer will be our last
I thank you, with all of me, for the summers we shared
Kindness is my last gift to you
I give it willingly
I will be with you
Holding you
When we part
Grief is my testimony to love
To the joy you brought to me
And to the quiet void that you will leave
I will recall you in every ray of the sun
I will softly sob in gentle showers
I will remember the summers we shared on every day of the year
Until I meet you again
And we share our summers once more
