Bunker
by Kate Thompson.........................................
Dear Momma,
Please stop crying. I can't be there to catch your tears,
you took the best care of me for all those years.

I am in a better place now, I am in no pain,
it is sunny and warm, and there is no rain,
I can run and BARK, and no neighbors complain.

Up here where I am, there is plenty to eat,
and you know I hang out, right between God's feet.

They take good care of me, I am shaved and fat,
and up here, dogs always catch the cat.

I will be waiting for the day, I can be back next to your legs,
and I can steel John's shoes, not give them back, even if he begs.

So, Momma please don't weep,
Your loving face was the last thing I saw, before I went to sleep.

Play with my crazy brother Max, he is lonely, I know it,
I know he loved me too, even if he was too cool to show it!

I will see you all again someday. Until then, I will be watching over all of you.
