Georgie Has Wings
by Kaycee Connally.........................................
Georgie was diagnosed with Lymphoma on December 8th. At that moment all the little changes that had been happening in his body made sense. As we went back to the vet to discuss our options, we were ready to let him go then. Our wonderful vet shared the options with his Papi and let us know that our boy would be OK to go home. When we took him home he really pepped up. We spent the week together with him, my boyfriend staying home from work. He seemed to be doing well, we opted not to give any treatments and just see how it went.
Last week things started going down hill. His breathing became more troubled. On December 19th his Papi decided that it was time to let him go. At 10:00 we went to the vet and they came out to the car to help him take his journey. I watched him in his Papi's lap breathe his last. We wrapped him in his blanny and took him home to rest with his "brother" Albert. As we were saying our good-byes my head hit a wind chime. My boyfriend said: "Everytime a bell rings, an angel gets his wings". Our boy got his wings and now he's heathy, strong and keeping all the other dogs in heaven in line. He was the most amazing boy who gave more than he ever took. He was the center of our "familly".
As we stood over his resting place with our 4 remaining dogs and said goodbye to our "angel" I felt a peace. I know he's OK now and we'll be together again. There will never again be another Georgie, but we were blessed to know him and his legacy will continue for generations.
Georgie, thank you for being the love you were. You had a calm almost zen-like being, you made me a better person. You will be missed.
