Boxing Gloves
by Kelly Arellanes.........................................
We received Boxing Gloves when he was 9 weeks old in 1992. He was a strange looking puppy. He was red with white Bassette feet. So thus the name Boxing Gloves. But we only calles him Gloves. As he grew up we realized he was half Bassette and half Chow. Thus we really understood why he was so protective of the family. We had a cat named Evinrude who was 13 years old when we got Gloves. Evinrude was the leader of our home. Gloves would go up to Evinrude and start "picking" on Evinrude. 'Rude would try to start hitting Gloves with his claws. Gloves would immediately turn around so 'Rude would scratch his butt. That made Gloves feel soooo good!
Then we got another kitten whne Gloves was 3 years old. Her name was Baby Kitty. Gloves adopted her. He would watch her, carry her around and "flea" her. Gloves would run his mouth up and down Baby Kitty lightly chewing on her, cleaning her. To this day, Baby Kitty would go up to Gloves and have him "flea" her. And a very good watch dog.
When the doorbell would ring He would go up to the door in front of all the family and check out the person at the door. When the family would have to go out of the house, we would tell Gloves to be the watch dog and he would lay down by the front door and wait there until the family got home. Well, about a year ago Gloves hips started going out on him and his nerves were rearing out also. But he ws still happy and still loved to play and be the watch dog.
Today, 1-24-06 came around and my husband and I could tell Gloves was not able to go on anymore. He went to sleep today. He has a wonderful grave in our yard with a headstone. I love and adore Gloves and I know his sprite is home.
