Oh, we met on such sad terms
A puppy escaped and a car overturned
You cried for help that Sunday afternoon
My forever buddy you would be soon
The owner said "I can not pay the bill"
"You pay and keep him, forever if you will"
And so it began
The love between me and you
You hobbled and wobbled in the lil green cast
And in love I fell fast
Spending so many days at moms we were
It was the chewing and digging I could not cure
Off to training we went
On this I was hell bent
Stay, sit, come and down
Turns out you were the class clown
As the years wore on you started to calm
Always my buddy, dusk until dawn
So unconditional and happy to be
Your place will always be with me
Some say "silly girl" he's just a dog
For those I feel sorry, you are a gift from God
They just don't understand, that may be
But it will always be you and me
Your eyes so gentle, calm, and caring
You know your love is for sharing
We will walk, swim, and play
Until the sad day
We are forced to part
