My Luna
by Keryn Munson.........................................
I lost my best friend after eleven years. I remember the day Luna came into my life, a scared pup, but she bonded with our Lab, it was still several days before she trusted me and the rest of the family. The breakthrough came when I saw her laying of the grass in the sun. I went outside and approached her, lay down next to her and rested my head on her warm side. She and I were inseparable from that moment on. When we kenneled her to go out of town she would not eat until I came back! She saw me through divorce, death of my mother, moving across country and my son leaving to attend college. Now that she is gone, I feel alone, but, I can feel her spirit still. She was very brave at the end, she hated going to the vet, but got into the car when prompted even though she had lost weight and the tumor had grown to the size of an orange.

She came into the vet reluctantly, but did not complain when they put the needle in her leg, she looked into my eyes and I held her head and stroked her face telling her I was sorry and that I loved her. She went quickly and now, she can catch all the rabbits and squirrels she could not catch before.

Luna girl, I love you and miss you more than you can imagine. You were always good, sweet, loving and loyal. Until we meet again, play with Percy, Otis, Latte, Olivia and Sophie and let them know I think of them often, miss them always and remember them all fondly.

Love you,

Mommy, Trevor, Shadow, Butch and Sundance
