(Poem written by C.R. Roberts in Memory of Tootsey)

I will lend to you for a while, an Angel, God said.
For you to love while she lives, and mourn when she's gone.
Maybe for 12 or 14 years, or maybe two or three,
But will you, 'til I call her back, take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you and should her stay be brief,
You'll always have her memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that she'll stay for long, since all from earth soon return.
But there are lessons I want my Angel to learn.

I've looked the whole world over, in search of a teacher true.
And from the folk that crowd life's land, I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love, nor think the labor's vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take her home again?

Dear Lord, Thy Will Be Done
For all the joys she brings, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness; we'll love her while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call her back sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
And if, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of her, whom we loved so dearly,
Please help us endure our unbearable grief.

And when our cherished Angel leaves this world a better place,
Please tell her we pray to see her soon,
If it be your grace.
