The Day After
by Lauren Baker.........................................
Acid rain falls upon tear stained face
Running, can't keep up the same pace
Falling and crying, begging on knees
The pavement offered at all no peace

Running harder, just keep running away
Pain can't possibly keep up, not today
Hovering over like some black cloud
Drowning the voices, music so loud

Blank the mind, please, just a clean slate
Deny the memory of such an awful, ill fate
Bring it home, make it make sense
Vision blinded, sight too dense

World spinning, sky crashes down
No clue, not knowing, nature drowns
Keep running, don't ever look back
Run faster, run harder, fall thru the crack

Water washes over, never tire, never stop
Feel the pain, fight it, start back at the top
Just beat it and it will all just disappear
Don't breathe, keeps away the fear

Running, running, I'm running away
Pain and suffering is too close today
Running's good, running away wins
Sky crashes down, the world still spins
