Bailey

Bailey

As I sit and write this,
I hear you bark outside.
The vet says you are very sick
Lymphoma the worst kind.

I want to make this tribute
Because I love you so.
My heart is breaking as I type
My eyes are blurry holes.

You've changed me as a person
I want you to know this.
Your gentleness has taught me
How love is at its best.

You are so strong and powerful
Your limbs as mighty oaks,
But your heart and soul I
know are good cause your love
has shown me so.

I will surely miss our quiet walks
The ones we always take.
To exercise and to worship all that
God has made.

Your gentle licks and bright big smile
I will carry with me always
Somehow I'll know that you
are close, I will sense you there beside me.

I love you so, you have to know
How much you mean to me.
I thank God for the time he saw
to give you here to me.

Only 6 and a half, just a drop in a hat
For the years of a dog are not many.
But my mind will remember the times
spent together curled up on the couch
with a blankey.

I will never believe how much it can
mean
To be loved by a fur legged friend.
But I know that all told he is my friend
and my soul
For I will love him and miss him again.

Love, your human.
