Davey John - My light
by Lisa Hamer.........................................
For Davey John

The stars don't shine as much at night
The sun's not quite as warm these days
My smile's never been quite as bright
Since cruel fate took you away

And though the field has others there
Sometimes it looks so empty to me
No matter how long I stand and stare
I can't see you where you should be

You should be standing in the sun
You should be shouting for your tea
You should be here with your mum
You should still be here with me

There is this place now in my heart
That's so sad and lonely still
And all the time we are apart
I know that it will never fill

Our parting will not be forever
One day I will be at your gate
And once again we'll be together
Safe at last from cruel fate

Until that day my Davey John
Know that I do love you still
I always did and always will
