Good bye, Little One
by Lisa Mahan.........................................
"Dear Little One:

Although we never got to know you, we want you to know how precious you were to us. Eventhough your life was but a few minutes long, it meant a great deal to us. I know you crossed the rainbow bridge and no doubt you are running around doing the things that a young guinea pig should be doing. Please be happy, eat lots of hay, frolic around and have fun. There is no need to worry because the other piggies (Patches, Sandy, and Baby) will cross the bridge one day and find you waiting for them and we will all be reunited."

This morning, my youngest guinea pig, Sandy, had given birth to two babies. Little One, did not survive. I had come home and my husband told me the news and I lost it; I had to name the guinea pig who had apparently died just before I walked in the door. I am heart broken over it but am happy that we have the other healthy baby pig who we named Baby. I have been crying tears all day because it brought back memories of when my first guinea pig, Squeak, crossed the rainbow bridge a few years ago. I know I never got to know Little One, but I thought I would write this letter to let him (we think he was a boy) know how we feel and that we miss him despite his 5 minute life here on earth. I hope Squeak and Little One have found eachother and they are running around eating grass and doing piggie things. I miss them both so much...losing a pet is never easy, no matter how long they lived.
