My beloved Blackjack
by Lisa Alger.........................................
Blackjack was my life. Got him at 6 wks old. My son brought him home. Since I work at home, he would always lay beside my desk. Should I walk out of the room he'd follow me (like bathroom). When he knew I had to go somewhere he's lay on his back wanting a belly rub which, of course, he always got! He went everywhere with me. If I went skiing he'd go in the car. We had a cabin 350 miles from home and so he traveled in the car quite a bit. He went boating, wore a life jacket to swim (he hated water) and just loved being wherever I would go. He had quality of life up until 24 hours before his passing. Took him to emergency since he was lethargic and didn't eat for 24 hrs. X ray showed enlarged heart. Took him home with medicine which he got one dose. Was gone in 24 hours! I am in shock as it's only been 3 days.... My friend works nights. This is my first night in his 11-1/2 years of being without him by my side. I always felt safe as he protected me, laying between me and the door....God bless you Blackjack. He will be buried with me in my grave. It's already set up with the mortuary...I hurt and grieve, but knowing I will see you again keeps me going... LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU MY BELOVED BLACKJACK...
