A Visit to Rainbow Bridge

Last night I went to Rainbow Bridge,
A beautiful sight to behold;-
Dancing clouds, and bluest sky,
As often I've been told.
Then, with a glance, I saw you there,
Frolicking in the sun;-
No pain, nor ache afflicting you,
I watched you romp and run!
It felt so good to pat your head,
And look into your eyes,
Now so clear, with life within,
Not like the day we said 'good --bye'.
I felt your nose upon my cheek,
And welcomed your 'hello' kiss,
So many things I've gone without,
So much of you I've missed.
Holding you close, I whispered your name,
And told of the place in my heart,
That will always be yours, 'till we meet again,
And from this world I depart.
"twas a night to remember, but then I awoke,
'Twas all but only a dream;-
It's funny how when we miss someone,
How very real it can seem
But I'll treasure my visit to Rainbow Bridge,
'Til the day it really comes true,
And for now I'll just settle with knowing you're happy,
Leaving a piece of my heart there with you.
