Always waiting patiently at the front door
tail wagging endlessly across the foyer floor.
Looking forward to greet me with her little doggie kiss
this was her way of saying "Oh my you were missed".
Puppy dog eyes filled with expression so sweet
impatiently awaiting a tasty dog treat.
A walk she loved, a ritual filled with fun
the first out the door, she just had to run.
Our bench on the porch, her warm body between us
just won't be the same, but somehow we'll adjust.
Cuddled between us on a cold winter's day
petting her softly, she loved it this way.
Together down the hallway, lights out then to bed
she'd fluff up the pillows to lay her sweet head.
to love us unconditionally, our faithful devoted friend
she made our family complete to her very brave end.

Youve crossed over the rainbow after seventeen years
we'll think of you often and know you are near.
Never forget one minute we spent
of loving and laughing, of places we went.
When I see a star twinkle in the night sky or a pretty butterfly
I'll remember loving you so much and promise not to cry.
Some day we will meet again
and love for eternity and be free from pain.
For now your spirit is set free, but never far apart
