Duke was the best thing that ever came into our lives. He was good company until almost the end when dementia took over and his heart gave out. His breathing became raspy today but by the time we got him to the vet he passed away on the table. He was blind and diabetic, but he was strong. He overcame many obstacles and gave us so many happy years. We will miss him terribly but we know he has crossed the rainbow bridge to be with all the other cats and dogs we had. He actually had his last meal at home and even had a bath, not knowing what was to come. He ate well even up to this morning. I know he is looking down at us and telling us not to worry, because he is pain free and happy. He is telling us not to cry but to go on without him and he will be waiting to meet us someday, healthy again. There will never be another dog like Duke. He will live in our hearts forever!!!
