For My Dash of Fortune
by Madel .........................................
You were born for me. I knew that the first time those large expressive eyes stared back. You were so cute and cuddly though your wrinkly face seems to suggest a problem way to heavy. You looked smart even then Dash of Fortune. No wonder learning tricks was easy for you. You would raise your front legs to ask for something, from opening a door to wanting some food, the latter especially. And your favorites -- banana, mango, pistachio ice cream, corned beef and hotdog. Ate Alma, your consenting personal slave was only too happy to give in. You drowned her with your affection. So with her, you knew you can get away with almost anything. She missed you so much Pugs. Last night, under the sheet, I sensed her crying.
Our nights wouldn't be the same too. Papa E thinks of the times you would poke him while he was asleep so he could carry you up to bed and the cold nights you would come cramping with us. I miss my "foot rug" and my "over weight alarm clock".
Pugs, I'm sorry for the times I spanked you -- when you opened the refrigerator and scattered the leftovers on the floor, when you climb on top of the dining table and broke a plate and when you were so stubborn you wouldn't eat unless hand fed. You were and will still be so dear to me; I hope you felt that from the warm tight hugs and plenty of kiss I gave you many times over.
Today, I'm still buried in grief and pain. Which is worse than the other, I do not know. All I'm sure of is that this day shall pass and so shall the next. Pugsley, my four legged son , thank you for the decade of unconditional love you showered us and for the immeasurable happiness you brought to our home. You may not have been my whole world but you certainly made me whole. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. > :(
